When Openhouse opened San Francisco’s first LGBTQ-wlecoming affordable housing for older adults, grassrootsPR brought senior residents’ stories to life. We co-produced the “Welcome Home” video, which debuted at the organization’s annual Spring Fling fundraiser.
Later, when the Trump administration eliminated questions about LGBT people from surveys that inform critical safety net programs for elders, grassrootsPR designed and executed the #LGBTQEldersCount campaign, which included a pop-up photo booth in the Castro that generated more than 500 personalized postcards to the US Department of Health and Human Services as well as traditional and social media outreach that drove traffic to an online petition to protest the move. Openhouse’s campaign was successful: the Trump administration backed down, adding back nearly all of the questions to the surveys.
When the local weekly newspaper in Bend, Oregon found itself between editors, they asked grassrootsPR’s Renée Alexander for help.
When a suicide prevention warm line for seniors lost its biggest grant, grassrootsPR helped crowd-fund more than $100,000 for the Friendship Line.
